What's Up Around Here

Hello, everyone! I have been trying to keep up with my blog as much as I did before we moved. So far, it has been difficult. There is sooo much that we have to do at the church in order to get things organized--visitation programs, King's Kids club, VBS, church website, ladies meeting, bulletin boards, etc.... Anyway...

We had our first organized visitation time yesterday morning. It was wonderful! Twenty-two people came!! We went door to door in the neighborhood closest to our church and passed out little bags with tracts, flower seed packets (for Spring time), and information on our church. It was a "Come Grow With Us" themed bag. We made several good contacts. We are praying that we will see some growth from the seeds that were planted. We pray that people will come to church and most of all that people will accept Jesus as their Savior.

A few pics...

The boys' train sets and Asher's toy box did not make it here during the move. Either they were stolen or taken somewhere else. They were the only things we were missing after the move. ???? So, I finally got the boys some new train pieces. I found them at the Kidz Klozet consignment sale. They are glued down to the table, and both boys are enjoying it. (The girls too!)

This past weekend we had a house full of sick kids. Chloe had it the worst--vomitting and really high fever. She slept most of the day for three days.
Abbie fell asleep while she was hiding in her closet.

Finally I am Posting Again!

I know; I know! It's about time I updated the blog again. I have been super busy at church preparing for our King's Kids program that we are starting April 1st, organizing, putting together packets for canvasing neighborhoods, decorating my classroom, and planning for our first L.I.F.T. (Ladies In Fellowship Together) meeting which is April 7th. ( How do you like the ladies group name? I thought it was cute. ) Also yesterday we started working on a church website. I am doing a blog for each one of the different ministries. When you click on the ministry, it will automatically link you to the blog. It helps for a quicker load of the website, and we will be able to add more options and pictures to the ministry pages through links to a blog. Chloe-What to Wear?

Chloe is now at the age where she is very picky about what she wants to wear. I thought this would not be too much of a problem now that we have school uniforms. However... Boy was I wrong! She is particular about what khaki bottom she wants to wear, what navy blue shirt, and even how she wants her hair done. I put her clothes out after she goes to bed. She has been leaving me notes out on her desk. This is the first one. I laughed and laughed! She even payed me to pick out what she wanted!!! HILARIOUS!!

Yes! I know her handwriting is atrocious!!

Day at the Park

We have a great park here for the kids. It is called the Playland Express. We took the kids last Saturday--remind me not to go on a Saturday again! There were soooo many kids which made it very difficult to keep up with our four. The kids had a blast; Aaron and I were worried about losing one of them.

A Great Find

While I was planning for the first LIFT meeting, I came across this wonderful room in our church. This is just one side of it. Why is it wonderful? It is filled with tons of decorating items for every occasion. What makes it even more wonderful? It is all organized just how I like it---in labeled storage bins!! YEAH!! I spent a couple of hours today grouping the bins and looking through all of the goodies!

Gulf Shores-video

Here are a couple of short videos of the kids at the beach. You will have to pause the music in order to hear. There isn't really anything to hear though, the wind was loud on the camera microphone.

More Fun at the Beach--Gulf Shores, AL

The kids were out of school for three days this week. On Tuesday we went back to the beach. First, we drove to Dauphin Island again and walked around an old Civil War fort called Fort Gaines. Then we drove our van onto the ferry at Dauphin Island and rode over to Gulf Shores.

We sat on the observation deck.

We looked through the binoculars.

We saw several Exxon-Mobile oil rigs.
We stopped at the souvenir shop to get some beach toys. The sharks mouth was the entrance. The kids loved it.

We had a picnic lunch.

Then we enjoyed our day at the beach looking for seashells, flying a kite, building sand castles, feeding the seagulls, burying each other in the sand, etc...

It was a wonderful day! We will be going back again soon!

Lambert's Cafe- Good Eatin and Great Fun!

We are still enjoying getting to know our new area. We have a Lambert's Cafe about 45 minutes away from our home in Foley, AL. We love this place. We use to go when we lived in MO. For those of you who do not know, there are only 3 of these in the country, and they are the home of the throwed roll! Yes, throwed, not thrown! There are guys and gals in red bow ties and suspenders pushing carts of fresh, hot, huge yeast rolls. These folks are ready to throw a roll across the restaurant at any raised hand! It is a blast!! Then you eat your hot roll with honey, butter, apple butter, or molasses.


They also have what is called Norm's Pass-it-arounds. When you get to your table, pull off a paper towel, get a plate, and get ready for the good southern food coming at you. These free pass it arounds include fried potatoes, fried okra, macaroni-n-tomatoes, black-eyed peas, and more. Then you order your reasonably priced and generously portioned meal which includes two more sides. Your drink also comes in an enormous mug, so you rarely run out. This is a wonderful place for the family or a group. You will leave with a smile, some great memories, a full belly, and a ton of leftovers!
