Tour Our New Home: Part 1

This is the view from our front porch.
Our Yellow Home- Look at all of the boxes piled up. We are getting rid of them on Craigslist. They came here with us from Indiana, and now they are going with an airforce man and his family to Maryland.

Kitchen- The little signs hanging up have sayings like "Faith, Family, Friends" ; "Live, Laugh, Love" ; "Simplify" ; "Believe" ; etc...

I don't have a window above my kitchen sink, so I put this wall application above it. I found it at the Dollar Tree.

The view in our house from the back door and foyer. Immediately to your left is a door that leads to the laundry room. Then you go through the laundry room to the garage. I hung my dry erase board in here. I recommend one for busy moms and families. I use it to jot down things I need from the store, the menu, phone numbers, etc...

This is our hallway off of the kitchen. It is in between the buffet table and the little kids table in the kitchen pictures above. This hall leads to the kids' rooms and a bathroom. The little hall off to the right that you see goes to the boys' room. On the left directly across from that is the bathroom. At the end of the hall is Abbie's room on the right and Chloe's room on the left. I will leave you hanging there. I have to finish unpacking and decorating the kids' rooms and our room. I will post pics of those when I am finished.

Our New Church Home

This is the sign that greeted us as we arrived.Our new church home--Crossroads Baptist Church. I don't have any pics of the inside of the church yet. I will take some soon and post them.

As lots of you know, we arrived here a week before any of our stuff. People in the church brought us all kinds of things in order to live without our stuff. One family brought this card table and chairs complete with a table cloth and fresh flowers. Another family brought us a tv with some bunny ears. Another family brought us a playpen and baby supplies for Justus. Different ladies in the church also brought homecooked meals for the first several days. They also brought us paper plates, plastic cups, plastic utensils, serving utensils, napkins, paper towels, drinks, dish rags, and much more. They did all that they could to welcome us and make our first days as easy and comfortable as possible without our stuff.

The first Sunday we were here the church gave us a "pounding". Each family was to bring us a pound of food. This is just a small part of it. We have a FULL pantry. We were also given some gift cards to go and buy more groceries. We are definately blessed and extremely grateful!

Welcome to our new city- Mobile

While Aaron and I were here by ourselves we drove out late one afternoon to the USS Alabama park. It is about 20 to 30 minutes from our house. The ship was closed, so we just took a few pictures and walked around. It is an amazing site. We will be going back very soon with the kids. We are going to make a day of it. They also have a little park area with grills and picnic tables. We are going to grill out and spend the day looking around. What history!

The girls' first day at a new school. Their old school's colors were blue and yellow--same at the new school. Their old school's mascot was the Knight--same at the new school. Yes we have uniforms now.

Reconnected

Hey everyone! Thanks for patiently waiting on me during this move. I will soon have this blog frequently updated again! We finally have the internet hooked up in our new home. I need just a few more days. I still have unpacking to do which has to be first on the priority list, and then I will be posting all of the pics and news.

We Are Here

Hello everyone! We have arrived safely in Mobile. It was quite the trip down here!! We traveled through the terrible ice storm in Kentucky. We tried to stop three different times in order to not travel in it. All three times the town was without power. We continued travelling down I-65. Trees were down all over the interstate due to the heavy ice. It was a scary mess. We made it to Bowling Green. It was the first town with power. It took us over 9 hours to travel a little over 200 miles that day. The next morning we were up EARLY in order to make it in time to sign the lease on our house. We made it just in time!

I do have lots of pictures to post and things to talk about, but ..... not yet! We arrived here last Wednesday, but just got our stuff late this Wed. afternoon. It was a long wait in an empty house! So.... I have lots of unpacking to do. We also do not have internet at our home yet. It is taking a while to find the right company down here-- another long story I will not tell you. I have to use the church's computers right now. I don't want to load them down with our pictures, and I don't have the time to spend on doing much with the blog yet.

We do love it here and the church people have been EXTREMELY helpful and generous to us. They have been doing there best to make our time without any of our things as easy as possible. Lots of yummy homecooked meals and many, many other little extra things! I will tell you all about it as soon as I have the time.

Oh yeah, I had not seen my house before we moved down here. I was really nervous about that. We found it through a real estate agent and the internet. I LOVE it!!! It is wonderful and is located in a great quiet neighborhood with lots of kids our kids' ages!! Also it is a dead end street, so very little traffic---great for the kids to play! God led us to the perfect one. He is so good!
