A Grand Reunion

On Friday Aaron took the kids and I to Hattiesburg where I grew up. It was soooooo exciting!!! I have a dear friend Melissa (Missy). We have known each other since we were 7 years old. We were the best of friends from then until we were 16 when I moved away. We have been able to keep in touch off and on through the years, but we had not seen each other since our Junior year in high school. This is us at age 16 and the last time we saw each other.
This is us 15 years later!!
Melissa has one little boy, Cade. He is 4 years old. We spent a couple of hours catching up at her parents' house.

We also took the kids to the park and met up with a few other friends.
This is us with Roblynn. She is a teacher at our old high school.
This is us with Tanya.
We also went together to our old high school. Aaron was surprise by how small it was. I don't know what he expected, but he said this was not it. Everything was the same other than a new roof because of Hurricane Katrina.

The parking lot still has not been paved and the football field is unchanged.

There were new bleachers in the gym.
The same mile long hallway. This is all the highschool now. It use to be half junior high. They have built a junior high building and an auditorium.
We took the kids to Kamper Park for a couple of hours and then we said our goodbyes. I am thrilled to be reconnected with Missy. We will be getting together again very soon and very often. Hopefully we can pick up right where we left off all those years ago... just now a little older and wiser.
When we were little my brother use to say that he was going to drive the train at Kamper Park when he was all grown up. Bo, these are for you.

The house I grew up in on Monroe Road.
We parked directly across the street in this parking lot to take the picture. Can you believe it? This use to be nothing.
Then just past a few houses down is this. As kids we use to walk down the street to the little convenience store and buy candy. Now we would just walk across the street or have to walk down this busy road to get to the old convenience store.
The other house we lived in on Pep's Point Road. My dad painted his work truck camouflage right under that carport.
Daddy's favorite restaurant was the Mexican Kitchen. It took us a while to find the new location. These are for you Dad.

Abbie thought the salsa was HOT!!!

The old girls' home at Blue Lake. It was late at night so it was hard to get a good picture. Katrina did a good bit of damage on the buildings.
